Me: It's just so pretty.
Seb: If something happened, some big catastrophe, and all of us died here, the archaeologists and anthropologists who dug us out would probably think that this was a temple.
Me: Yeah. You've even got a giant Apple-shaped sun to worship.
As we were standing in front of the yet-to-be-opened store today, admiring the new look and gawking at the people already standing in line for tomorrow, five firetrucks zoomed right up to the curb. Either something must have tripped an alarm in the store, or the firemen were just testing out to see how fast they could get there in an emergency (but I'm pretty sure that Apple, while powerful, does not quite have the pull to get fire department tests.) It was pretty funny, though, because once the firetrucks showed up with sirens wailing, everyone in the area came running and people with cameras appeared out of nowhere and started shooting, just in case something happened.
Does having an Apple store open in your neighborhood mean the neighborhood has made it, or is it just going to be another inconvenience to walk around? Regardless, it is pretty stunning...and I'm sure I'll grow to appreciate having a Genius Bar just a few blocks away.

I think it's funny that you question whether or not the UWS has "made it" as a neighborhood yet... :-P
Hey - I know a whole hell of a lot of New Yorkers who wouldn't be caught dead living above 14th Street. :)
